**Last Updated 05/13/2003 MOO URL: http://www.moo.mud.org/ Rating: *** Available Platforms: - Most flavors of UNIX. - Unsure of a Win32 port. Pros: - A totally object oriented language - Language is exceptionally powerful - Layer interacts with the shell - Flexability of language allows 'wrappers' Cons: - A bit of a pig on resources (since last checked) - Memory leak and bloat issues (with older versions) - Not at all compatable with TinyMUSH - Nothing hardcoded but language (basically) - Major security risks with the language (if abused) - Developers are splintered and non-communictative between groups. Comments: Understandably, I have not messed with moo too much. To be honest, I don't like it. However, it does have an amazingly powerful language that will allow you to do nearly anything with it. But then, it's that 'nearly anything' that gets it in trouble. I would suggest this codebase if you plan to do something that is feature-full with regards to design and application. If you are to use MOO, use it to it's fullest extent, don't use it like a MUSH. My only other major beef is it sucks up resources rather badly and doesn't release it well back to the OS. This apparently is being looked at and I hope it is fixed. MOO has amazing power under the hood.
