**Last Updated 05/13/2003 TinyMUSH 2.0.X URL: Unknown Rating: ** Available Platforms: - Most flavors of Unix - Win32 in non-native mode (3rd party only) Pros: - It has a smaller memory imprint than other servers - It takes up less disk space initially - Parser runs fairly quickly Cons: - Harder to configure and set up - Not very secure - Not very stable - Extreamly limited on functionality/commands - No hardcoded mail system - No hardcoded bbs system - No hardcoded com/chat system - No ansi support - No sideeffects - No easy backups - No multipage system Comments: This is a nice barebone codebase if you want to play but I would not suggest it for any type of 'official' mushes unless you plan to really hack up the code. It's stability isn't too bad though it does need work. TinyMUSH 2.2.0 - 2.2.3 Rating: ** 1/2 Available Platforms: - Unix platforms - Win32 in non-native mode (3rd party only) Pros: - More secure than 2.0.X - More features and functionality than 2.0.X - Easier to configure and set up than 2.0.X Cons: - Harder to configure and set up - Not very secure - Not very stable - Extreamly limited on functionality/commands - No hardcoded mail system - No hardcoded bbs system - No hardcoded com/chat system - No ansi support - No sideeffects - No easy backups - No multipage system Comments: They made it more secure but the stability is pretty much the same. It does offer more features and is easier to set up. If you want a barebone tinymush you can base code off of you may look into this one. TinyMUSH 2.2.4 - 2.2.5 (**NOT TinyMUSH 2.2.4 Unofficial**) Rating: * 1/2 Available Platforms: - Unix only - Unsure if a 3rd party Win32 exists for this. Pros: - More features and functionality than earlier 2.2.X versions - Much easier to configure and set up than earlier 2.2.X - Ansi support - Sideeffect support Cons: - More bloated on resources than earlier versions - Extreamly unstable codebase - Codebase easilly corrupted - No hardcoded mail system - No hardcoded bbs system - No hardcoded com/chat system - No easy online backup routine. - No multipage system Comments: My if they didn't take a step backward with this one. Yes, it has ansi support, and yes, it has sideeffects, but they threw security and stability out the window by adding this and the other features. I would not suggest using this unless you just want to play.
